Club News: Lady Lions Entertain Blind

Forty-five sightless women felt the warmth of the Christmas spirit at a party held in their honor on Monday. The Salt Lake Lady Lions were the gracious hostesses at the afternoon party from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.
At the Blind Center, 138 Second East St., festive tables were set with a candy cane motif. White candles took on red candy cane stripes, and bows, balls and boughs in Christmas colors flanked the tables.
Mrs. Alan Grant Mann chairman of the party, was ably assisted by Mrs. C. LeRoy Krumperman, Mrs. E.F. Waters, Mrs. Joseph Casull, Mrs. L.W. Thatcher and Mrs. Alton F. Lund. Other committee members included Mrs. Clair M. Mortensen, Mrs. G.B. Boyack, and Mrs. E.D. Bryson.
A Christmas story was given by Mrs. Fred W. Schwendiman and Christmas carols were sung by Mrs. J. Stewart McMaster. Each guest was presented with a candy cane complete with bell and everyone joined in singing Jingle Bells. Gifts were presented at the conclusion of the meeting and sincere wishes were made for real holiday happiness.
Mrs. W. I. Richards Jr., vice president of the Lady Lions, was present with other officers, Mrs. Nat E. Parry, treasurer, and Mrs. Lynn M. Thatcher, secretary.
This is the second social affair planned by the Lady Lions for the blind women, and during the year, two more luncheons will be given.
As another Lady Lions activity, seven families of the blind will be provided with food, toys and clothing to insure a Merry Christmas.
